StormRoom™ with DuPont™ Kevlar®

StormRoom™ with DuPont™ Kevlar®

Since 1950 there have been nearly 7,800 reported tornadoes in Texas. The Dallas Fort Worth Metropolex lies in the 250 mile per hour wind zone, in the core of tornado alley, where the most powerful storms and tornadoes can occur. The materials scientists at DuPont, one of the top science and engineering companies in the world with a history dating back over 200 years, have designed the StormRoom™ with DuPont™ Kevlar®, an in-home above ground tornado shelter to help protect you and your family.

Able to withstand EF5 tornadoes

StormRoomIntegrating 3 layers of laminated Kevlar, the same material used by police and military in bullet resistant vests and helmets, structural steel, and a chemically set anchoring system the StormRoom™ with DuPont™ Kevlar® can withstand even the strongest EF5 tornadoes and exceeds criteria established by the Federal Emergency Management Agency in conjunction with Texas Technical University’s school of wind engineering. In addition to being tested in real life situations and protecting it’s occupants during 4 F5 tornadoes in recent years, the Kevlar reinforced wall panes and 290 pound safe quality door have withstood repeated hits by 15 lb 2x4s fired at speeds of 100 miles per hour, the speed at which a 250 an hour tornado would propel a 2×4.

In Home Above Ground Installation

The StormRoom™ with DuPont™ Kevlar® is designed to be installed in new or existing construction in the home or garage and can be attached to your home’s air conditioning system, fitted with drywall, electricity, lighting, and plumbing to function as a closet, pantry, washroom, laundry room, walk in gun safe, or even a guest bedroom. The safest tornado shelter is one you can access easily and quickly, and as an everyday part of your home the StormRoom™ with DuPont™ Kevlar® provides security and peace of mind for you and your loved ones.
